The fairy tale of the wolf in the fairy tale castle Wolfsbrunnen

A long time ago –

The area has been called Wulfenborn and Wolfsborn within living memory - because in the gray preliminary times the wolves came to the well, to drink.

Because the forest was rich on wild game, the wolves arranged themselves with the forest farmer for the mutual protection.

During the day, the farmers led their livestock to drink and weren't bothered by the wolves.

The wolves even held strange predators, which the people did not know, away from the well. At night the wolves came to drink and weren't chased away by the farmers.

But one night a young hothead of good family went out to hunt - and shot a old wolf, who just about to take a drink from the well.

With a loud howl the wolves of the region left at the same moment, since they lost their leader. They never returned.

Only the old wolf lost his soul at the Wolfsbrunnen.
As remembrance and as a warning, stones were piled up and decorated with a bronze wolf's head where the castle hotel Wolfsbrunnen is today.

Sometimes during moon nights, you can hear the howls of the old wolf.
